Sacrificial Marker / Estela Sacrificial, at Museo del Obispado , Mexico
March, 2006
Monterrey, NL, Mexico
Installation. Steel, Salt, Charcoal, Plastics and Organic Materials.
Othon Castaneda was the first contemporary artist who installed at the Regional Museum of Nuevo León, Mexico a XVIII century building regarded as National Heritage.
The piece was installed in a historic-religious context fulfilling the norms of conservation of the building and adapting itself and interacting with its context by opposing the Altar and the religious work of the Virgin of Guadalupe, thus making a profane version of the virginal theme.
